Using Adobe Lightroom

Image
The software I am using to edit my photographs is Adobe Lightroom which is a software similar to Photoshop but is much better suited for editing RAW images. By using RAW images I can edit the exposure and other camera settings after being taken which you cannot do on a JPEG image file. This is because RAW images have a low amount of processed data. Lightroom doesn't have as many features as Photoshop but you can adjust the brightness, saturation and the colour of the photo.  A benefit of using Adobe Lightroom is you can give every image a star rating so you can decide between which ones are your favourites and which ones you dislike. This helps as when it comes to editing images you can order photos by star rating which makes organising much easier as you down need to scroll through hundreds of images to look for your favourite and you cab keep them in groups.

Starter 29th march

What is a RAW image? A RAW image is an image file that contains low amounts of processed data from a digital cameras sensor.  What image type allows you to preview after taking a photo? JPEG Give 4 benefits of using a RAW over JPEG? More shades of colour, Allows lossless compression, can adjust colour space,

M2- Write a report explaining the legal and ethical issues around your photography shoot

In this report I will discuss the legal and ethical issues I will need to follow to avoid getting into any trouble when shooting. If I do not follow these regulations then me and my work will be sanctioned and if taken far, I will be taken into court. Following this I will then go on to talk about the ethical considerations when going out to take my photos.  The first legal issue I will talk about is that of not filming in places of entertainment. I do have the right to shoot freely in public but I cannot shoot where entertainment is taking place such as cinemas and live music as I do not have the rights to the content that is being showcased especially in cinemas as the film isn't even out to the public yet. Fortunately for me, none of my planned shots are at risk of clashing with copyrighted entertainment so I do not need to worry about filling forms or getting into trouble with the owner of content. Another legal consideration is if I am to photo private property I need permissi...

LO2: Plan a shoot

Image
The purpose of my shoot is to showcase 'Beautiful Doncaster. I will be going around Doncaster taking a variety of photos that shows Doncaster as a great place using my style of photography. My style of photography is urban landscape so I will be taking photos in the town centre and other villages that showcases how fantasic mankind's construction of buildings are. I will take 10 photos that captures Doncaster beauty. The first images will take is of the graffitied wall next to the bus station. This will be shot in colour so you can really capture the detail in the artwork and the golden ratio will be used as the main focal point of the shot will be the women positioned towards the right.  My second photo will be next to the tunnel underneath Frenchgate and it will capture vehicles exiting the tunnel. I will shoot this in the evening when all the car lights are in a slow shutter speed so I can catch the light looking stretched which will look aesthetically pleasing.  My third p...

LO1: What is my style of photography

Image
For this report, I will talk about my own style of photography and the images I have taken so far in previous projects. This will help me plan my future shots as I will have an idea of what and where I want to shoot.  For my unit 3 course work I took studio portrait photos of classmates to pretend to be footballers and fans of the football club Doncaster Rovers. This was because it could not actually gather copyrighted photos off the internet or actually take portraits of the players themselves. To take the photos I used a Canon DSLR as that is currently my favourite camera to use because you can take some fantastic shots using this camera. After taking the photos with the DSLR, I then imported them into photoshop to start editing them.  Firstly, what I did was I increased the brightness and vibrance of my photos so they look better and the picture looks more alive. Additionally, I zoomed in on the photo of the two Rovers fans and I used the spot healing brush to remove any sp...
