LO2: Plan a shoot

The purpose of my shoot is to showcase 'Beautiful Doncaster. I will be going around Doncaster taking a variety of photos that shows Doncaster as a great place using my style of photography. My style of photography is urban landscape so I will be taking photos in the town centre and other villages that showcases how fantasic mankind's construction of buildings are. I will take 10 photos that captures Doncaster beauty.

The first images will take is of the graffitied wall next to the bus station. This will be shot in colour so you can really capture the detail in the artwork and the golden ratio will be used as the main focal point of the shot will be the women positioned towards the right.

My second photo will be next to the tunnel underneath Frenchgate and it will capture vehicles exiting the tunnel. I will shoot this in the evening when all the car lights are in a slow shutter speed so I can catch the light looking stretched which will look aesthetically pleasing.

My third photo will be of the sun setting behind some buildings as that will look very interesting as it mixes nature with mankind's creation. This will be shot with a high depth of field so I can capture all the details needed and I need to ensure that I reduce the chromatic aberration that come through when shooting the sun. I will also need to shoot from below the subject so the light come from above and covers the focal point.

The fourth photo I will take will be in the train station. In the train station I will capture a moving train with a slow shutter speed which will showcase the speed in the which the train is moving. This will show that the train is moving at high speeds as there won’t be detail on the train. This will use the golden ratio as the head of the train will be positioned to left or the right.

The fifth photo I will take is of the church on Eccleston Road, Kirk Sandall. This image will be shot in black and white which connotes something being timeless which churches are. This shot could easily be compared to photos taken decades a go as both with have no colour.

My sixth photo will be a shot of someone sat on a bench towards the left or right of the inage and a long path ahead. This will use he golden ratio rule as the person sat on the bench with be positioned to the side of the screen. This shots meaning is you can stop whenever (person sat on the bench) but there’s still always further to go (the path that leads into the distance).

My seventh image will be a shot down a street as you can see all the houses that have been built which links to my style of urban photography. I will use symmetry in this photo as I will be stood a the beginning of a road so either side of the street with be visible almost looking identical.

My eighth photo will be of someone eating which will be shot in black and white. This reason for this to be in black and white is because we have always needed food which shows that it is timeless. Also, we can see how food has changed by comparing to photos of people with food from a long time ago.

My ninth image will be of the water fountain outside cast in town. I will take a photo of this as it showcases the mixture of nature and mankind as water is natural but it was made in a certain way by people. I will shoot this in a high aperture to add more depth to the image.

My final shot will be of bridge over water which will be shot either at sunrise or sunset so I can get the detail of the bridge and a sparkle from the water. I will take this image as it will showcases how humans found solutions to problems such as crossing over a body of water. I will need to use a semi high ISO so the image will be bright enough to capture everything in shot.

Legal constraints:

When taking my photos I will need to ensure that I don’t break the law in anyway. For example, a legal constraint I need to follow is I cannot take photos of entertainment that I do not have a license to film as I am therefore breaching copyright regulations. This could result in legal action being taken against me as I do not have the right to photo it. Another legal constraint I need to follow is if a police officer asks what I am doing when taking my photos, I must give answers to their questions and I must let them look at he images I have taken if they wish to do so. I must also comply with any health and safety rules that I have set myself or I have been told to follow. This will reduce the risk of me or other people being harmed. Finally, a very important legal constraint is I must not take any inappropriate photos of people especially people who do not want to be photographed. This is invading privacy and and is not relevant to my work so there is no need to do so.

Equipment:

I will use a few pieces of equipment to take the photos to the best of my ability. The camera I will use to take the shots will be a Canon DSLR as I can easily adjust the camera settings such as ISO, aperture and shutter speed and also DSLR cameras have very good quality and are flexible with what they allow you to photograph. I will take a tripod out so that my shots are steady and positioned perfectly. If I tried to shoot with my hands I maybe al title shaky which may result in the shots being wonky therefore not looking professional. Finally I will need a lease that can shoot in landscape so I will therefore use a fish eye lease for the relevant landscape shots.

Resources:

When taking some of my shots I will need to model to be a part of the photo so will need ask people I know if they are fine being in the images. To confirm that they agree to model for my shots I will make them sign a model release form which basically states where they will be, when they will be there and what they need to do. This will protect the model and the photographer if everything stated on the form is followed. In case I need to travel via public transport, I will need a budget so I know how much I can spend on buses or trains if they are necessary. The software I will use to edit the photos once they are taken is Adobe Lightroom as it easier to use than photoshop and is well suited for photography.
