P4 and D2- Editing images

After completing my shoot and importing my photos into Lightroom, I was required to edit my images to make them better than they are. When editing my images I used a brush tool to put a mask to cover a specific area for me to change the appearance. Once he mask is covering the correct part of the image I will then adjust the settings to the right of the screen. These settings can be for example the exposure, the shadows and the blacks with the whites. These settings will change the brightness of the image and how much certain parts stand out from the rest.

The top image is the original image and the bottom image is what I did to edit in Lightroom. As you can see I edited this image to make it look like of a evening shot. I achieved by using the brush tool to go over everything except the windows and I changed settings such as saturation and temperature as well as increasing or decreasing the blacks, the whites and the shadows in the image. This made the walls look as if the sun is reflecting onto them when in actual fact, the there is minimal un on the buildings at all. This can be seen most on the door as the original has a slight sun reflection but the edited version has a clearer sun reflection due to the settings I edited in Lightroom.

With this image, I increased the exposure and the highlights on the building to increase the brightness of the shot and make it more clear. I then, increased settings such as sharpness to enhance the detail on the building to the point where the house almost looks fantasy and mythical with the colour and patterns on the walls. To improve this edit, I wish that I erased the the blurred sign in the bottom left corner as I think it ruins the image and would look more professional if I removed it.

For this image here, I brushed over the building plus the lion statue and increased the exposure along with the whites on the photo to make the main features stand out more. The reason I did this was because the building is the main focus of the shot so therefore I increased certain settings so features of the buildings stood out compared to the trees and bushes around it. I did not change the sky in anyway as I believe that it would make the image look unrealistic and the sky too bright.

For this image, I added a vignette onto the original to add more a tunnel vision effect which will make my photography skills look more professional. I also increased settings such as the density to make the vignette look darker therefore enhancing the tunnel effect.

For this image, I increased the exposure on the bench to make it standout more. The bench follows the golden ration rule as it is positioned to the right of the image. Also, on the original image, there were signs in the background of the image so I used the eraser tool to remove them from my shot.

For this image, I increased the exposure, contrast and highlights to the sign and message stand out more. The message of this mural is to say that Doncaster is welcoming to all cultures and ethnicities. I also in the texture and sharpness so the art and colours stand out better from the black background.

For this image, I cropped a large portion of the image as I feel a lot of the content to the left is not needed so therefore I removed it. I then increased the highlights, sharpness, texture and clarity while lowering the whites and blacks to make the image look more colourful therefore a more beautiful image.

This is an image of light trail shot where I captured the movement of light by adjusting the shutter speed of the camera. This created the effect of the car lights looking stretched. To improve the image, I used the eraser tool to remove the lights in the background as I feel they ruin the image and I also erased the sign on the motorway.

To improve this image, I increased the saturation, clarity and sharpness to make the image look clearer and more colourful. As you can see the edited images greens is a lot more vibrant which makes the image look more alive and more professional.

This is the image of St George's Church that was taken from Frenchgate car park and to edit the image, I lowered the highlights and saturation while increasing texture and clarity. This has made the image black and white which is intentional as is shows that churches are timeless.
